The wooden case mod was perhaps one of the earliest examples of scratch mods back in the day. Creating a simple cabinet hacked together from nice bits of wood once garnered the adulation of modders everywhere.

Wooden mods have become rather retro, however, these days, with more futuristic, metallic mods often the order of the day. However, for his first case mod - his first case mod - Nick Falzone decided to go back to the roots of the movement to create something truly fantastic.

Nick was 19 when he created this mod, studying architecture at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo CA. He decided upon a Japanese theme for the mod, inspired by Japanese lamps and shoji, the wood and paper screens used to divide rooms - think Kill Bill.

Being an accomplished furniture maker, even at this young age, clearly helped with the creation of the mod, and the level of craftsmanship exhibited in its creation is simply breathtaking.
